Collins and Turner is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Sydney Australia, founded in 2002 by Penny Collins and Huw Turner. The work of our practice focuses on the design and construction of innovative environments for living, work, learning and recreation.

Collins and Turner is a Sydney-based architecture studio delivering civic, public, and residential projects at every scale, from high-impact community facilities to major private commissions.

Established in 2002 by Penny Collins and Huw Turner, the practice is defined by a disciplined design process, technical clarity, and close engagement with diverse stakeholders. Each partner brings significant international experience spanning urban precincts, complex infrastructure, and commercial works with leading global firms. From international foundations, the studio has built an identity firmly established in Sydney, with a portfolio that demonstrates sustained, local impact.

Each project begins with rigorous independent exploration, followed by joint review, applying the dual expertise of both directors to generate more considered solutions. Rather than pursuing an aesthetic style, the studio privileges diagrammatic clarity and material restraint, allowing each building to achieve a singular vision that can be scaled. Established partnerships with public and private sector clients, urban authorities, consultants, and leading contractors support the firm’s capacity for delivery at every scale. Listening to all stakeholders is central to the method, promoting outcomes that balance design ambition, technical feasibility, and social impact. The studio has delivered public venues, social infrastructure, adaptive reuse projects and significant residences, all realised with directors involved from brief through delivery.!

Sustainability, social impact and meaningful engagement with Country are integral to practice.

The studio works with First Nations consultants and citymakers in authentic, ongoing partnerships, not as symbolic gestures. Design options are explored diagrammatically and tested for buildability and delivery, with the aim that every design can be scaled while remaining conceptually tight. Collins and Turner deliver public, private and commercial projects. The studio’s identity rests not on aesthetic signature but on the integrity, clarity, and responsiveness.
