Curated workspace redefined
The Carpe Diem project is a curated workspace within levels 30 and 31 of International Towers’ T2 building at Barangaroo.
Completed in collaboration with Geyer, the project sees the realisation of a unique workplace community model that brings workers together in an open innovation precinct designed to inspire growth, collaboration and wellbeing.
The new shared workspace includes a curated approach to tenancy and encourages a wider range of strategic and casual collaboration opportunities that aren’t accessible in traditional workplaces.
The project responds to a profound shift in workplace culture – away from rigid constructs and hierarchical models, towards a more informal, social experience that inspires more innovative and creative thinking, creating a powerful sense of belonging.
Collins and Turner worked closely with Geyer and ITS on the design of the Companionway – the spectacular double-height social space that links levels 30 and 31 and forms the central focus of the project. Works included the design and coordination of structural changes to the building to allow for the construction of the Companionway stair – conceived as a series of suspended linked platforms that provide spaces for casual work, meetings, social events and relaxation. The structure hangs delicately at the building’s edge and offers spectacular and unparalleled views across Barangaroo, the harbour and towards the Western City and the Blue Mountains.
Carpe Diem is the Sydney address of organisations including the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), Green Building Council of Australia and the Bangarra Dance Theatre.
The project has received multiple awards including the Peoples Choice award for Best of the Decade workspace design in the Asia Pacific region at the 2020 Inde Awards.

” This is a big call to make, but this is quite likely one of the best workplaces in the world. ”
